Certification

Are your lab-grown diamonds certified?

Yes — every single diamond we sell is independently certified.

Our lab-grown diamonds are graded by IGI (International Gemological Institute), one of the world's most respected laboratories. The certificate documents the 4Cs — cut, colour, clarity and carat — so you know exactly what you're buying.

Larger stones are laser-inscribed with their certificate number, visible under magnification.

What is a BIS hallmark on gold?

The BIS hallmark is your guarantee of gold purity, issued under the Bureau of Indian Standards — India's official hallmarking authority.

Every gold piece from Varniya is BIS hallmarked, which means the karatage (e.g. 14kt or 18kt) has been independently verified. Look for the BIS mark, the purity grade and the HUID number stamped on the jewellery.

What is IGI certification?

IGI stands for the International Gemological Institute, founded in 1975 and one of the largest independent gem-grading laboratories in the world.

An IGI report is an unbiased, third-party assessment of your diamond's quality against the 4Cs. Because IGI has no stake in the sale, it gives you an objective benchmark you can trust and compare.

What is SGL jewellery certification?

SGL (Solitaire Gemological Laboratories) certifies finished jewellery — verifying the diamonds, gemstones and metal in a complete piece rather than a loose stone.

Where IGI certifies the diamond, SGL certifies the jewellery it's set into, giving you assurance about the entire piece you receive.

Custom Jewellery

Can I customise or design my own jewellery?

Yes — creating something bespoke is one of our favourite things to do.

Whether you want to tweak an existing design, reset a diamond you already own, or design a piece entirely from scratch, our design team will guide you from idea to finished jewellery. Share a reference, a budget and a timeline, and we'll turn it into a detailed design and quote.

How long does a custom piece take?

A bespoke piece typically takes 3–5 weeks from approved design to delivery, depending on complexity.

The journey is: consultation, a design and quote for your approval, crafting by our artisans, quality checks and certification, then insured delivery. We keep you updated at every stage.

Diamond Education

How do I choose the right diamond?

Start with what matters most to you, then balance the 4Cs around it.

  • Want maximum size? Prioritise carat and choose a slightly lower colour/clarity that still looks stunning.
  • Want maximum sparkle? Prioritise an excellent cut above everything else.
  • Want the whitest look? Prioritise colour.

There's no single right answer — it's about the most beautiful diamond for your budget. A quick chat with one of our diamond consultants makes this easy.

What are the 4Cs of a diamond?

The 4Cs are the universal language for describing a diamond's quality. Here's what each means:

  • Cut — how well the diamond is proportioned and polished. Cut has the biggest impact on sparkle.
  • Colour — graded D (colourless) to Z (light yellow). D–F is colourless, G–J near-colourless and excellent value.
  • Clarity — how few natural inclusions the diamond has, from FL (flawless) to I (included).
  • Carat — the diamond's weight. One carat is 0.2 grams.

The art is balancing all four to your budget — our consultants do this every day.

What diamond colour should I choose?

Here's what you should know: colour is graded from D to Z, and the differences are subtle.

  • D–F (colourless) — the rarest and brightest white.
  • G–J (near-colourless) — looks white to the eye, especially once set, and offers the best value.

For a white-gold or platinum setting, G or H looks beautifully white. In yellow or rose gold you can comfortably go a little warmer, since the metal reflects a warm tone anyway.

What does VS1 clarity mean?

VS1 stands for Very Slightly Included 1 — a high clarity grade.

It means the diamond has tiny inclusions that are difficult to see even under 10x magnification, and completely invisible to the naked eye. VS1 is a sweet spot many customers love: the diamond looks flawless to the eye, without paying the premium for a laboratory-flawless stone.

Engagement Rings

How do I talk to a diamond expert?

Personalised guidance is always free. You can reach a Varniya diamond consultant three ways:

  • WhatsApp — the fastest way to get answers, share references and see options.
  • Book a video appointment — a one-to-one virtual viewing from home.
  • Visit a store — experience the pieces in person.

There's no obligation — our experts are here whenever you'd like a hand.

Exchange & Buyback

Can I upgrade my diamond later?

Yes — and many customers do.

Through our lifetime exchange, you can trade in your current diamond and put its full value towards a larger or higher-grade stone whenever you're ready. Start with what suits you today, knowing you can always upgrade later.

Can I return my order?

Yes — if something isn't right, you can return eligible ready-to-ship pieces within 15 days for a refund or exchange, provided they're unworn and in original condition with the certificate.

Custom and personalised pieces are made just for you and follow a separate policy, which our team will explain clearly before you order.

What is your lifetime exchange policy?

We offer a lifetime exchange on your Varniya jewellery.

You can exchange any piece towards a new one at any time, receiving the full current value of your diamonds and gold against your next purchase. It's our way of making sure your jewellery grows with you — whether you want to upgrade a solitaire or refresh a design years later.

Do you offer buyback?

Yes. We offer buyback on your Varniya diamonds and gold, so your purchase always retains real, tangible value.

The exact buyback value depends on the current market price of gold and the diamond's grade. Our team will walk you through the current terms — just reach out.

Jewellery Care

How do I care for my diamond jewellery?

Caring for your jewellery is simple. Here's how:

  • Soak in warm water with a little mild dish soap for 15–20 minutes, then gently brush with a soft toothbrush and rinse.
  • Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or lined box to prevent scratching.
  • Remove jewellery before swimming, cleaning or applying lotions and perfume.
  • Bring it in for a complimentary professional clean and inspection once a year.

Lab-grown Diamonds

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes, absolutely. Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds in every meaningful sense.

They are not cubic zirconia or moissanite — those are diamond simulants with different chemistry. A lab-grown diamond is pure crystallised carbon, identical to a mined diamond, and it will pass a diamond tester as a genuine diamond.

Even a trained gemologist cannot tell a lab-grown and mined diamond apart by eye; it takes specialised equipment to identify the growth origin.

Can lab-grown diamonds scratch?

Only another diamond can scratch a diamond.

Because they sit at 10 on the Mohs hardness scale, everyday surfaces — keys, countertops, glass — cannot scratch them. The one thing to avoid is storing several diamond pieces loose together, where they can rub against each other.

We recommend storing each piece in its own soft pouch, which we include with every order.

Can lab-grown diamonds pass a diamond tester?

Yes. Standard diamond testers measure thermal or electrical conductivity, and because a lab-grown diamond has the exact same properties as a mined one, it registers as a genuine diamond.

Only specialised laboratory equipment can distinguish growth origin — which is precisely why every Varniya diamond comes with an independent certificate identifying it.

Do lab-grown diamonds fade or cloud over time?

No — a lab-grown diamond will never fade, cloud or lose its sparkle.

This is one of the most common myths. A diamond's brilliance comes from its permanent crystal structure, not a coating or treatment, so it is completely stable for life. Any temporary dullness is simply everyday oils and lotion on the surface, which rinses off in seconds with warm soapy water.

How are lab-grown diamonds made?

Here's how it works. There are two methods, and both produce a genuine diamond:

  • CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) — a diamond seed is placed in a chamber filled with carbon-rich gas. The gas is energised so carbon atoms settle onto the seed, layer by layer, growing a crystal.
  • HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) — recreates the earth's natural conditions, applying immense pressure and heat to turn carbon into diamond.

After growth, each rough stone is cut and polished by master cutters exactly like a mined diamond.

How durable are lab-grown diamonds?

Here's what you should know: lab-grown diamonds are just as durable as natural diamonds.

They score a perfect 10 on the Mohs scale — the highest rating for hardness — which makes diamond the hardest known natural material. That's exactly why diamonds are the classic choice for everyday jewellery like engagement rings.

With normal care your diamond will look exactly as brilliant decades from now as the day you receive it.

What are lab-grown diamonds?

Good question — this is where most people start.

Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds. They are grown in a laboratory that recreates the same conditions of intense heat and pressure found deep within the earth, just over a few weeks instead of billions of years.

They are chemically, physically and optically identical to mined diamonds. Same carbon crystal structure, same sparkle, same hardness. The only difference is origin.

  • 100% real diamond, not an imitation
  • Every stone is independently graded
  • Typically 20–40% better value than a comparable mined diamond

Ring Sizing

Can my ring be resized?

Yes — most of our rings can be resized, and your first resize is complimentary.

Simply reach out within the first 30 days and we'll arrange it. Some designs, such as full-eternity bands or certain intricate settings, have limited resizing range; our team will always tell you upfront before you buy.

How do I find my ring size?

There are three easy ways to find the right size:

  • Order our ring sizer — we can send a simple, reusable sizer to your door.
  • Measure an existing ring — measure the inside diameter of a ring that already fits that finger and share it with us.
  • Visit a store — pop into any Varniya store for a precise measurement.

If you're buying a surprise gift, our consultants have gentle tricks to help you guess accurately — just ask.

What if the ring doesn't fit when it arrives?

Don't worry — we'll make it right.

If the fit isn't perfect, contact us within 30 days and we'll resize it for you, with the first resize free of charge. If you're between sizes or unsure, our consultants can guide you to the best choice before you order.

Shipping & Delivery

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship to many countries worldwide, fully insured.

International timelines and any customs duties vary by destination. Share your country with our team on WhatsApp and we'll confirm the exact shipping cost and delivery estimate for you before you order.

How do I track my order?

You can also see live status any time in your Varniya account under Orders. If anything looks unclear, our team is a WhatsApp message away.

How long does delivery take?

Most ready-to-ship pieces are dispatched within 1–2 business days and delivered across India in roughly 3–7 business days.

Made-to-order and custom pieces are crafted specially for you and typically take 10–15 business days before dispatch. Your order confirmation will always show the expected timeline, and you'll receive tracking the moment it ships.

Is my order insured during shipping?

Yes. Every order ships fully insured and requires a signature on delivery, so your jewellery is protected end to end.

We use trusted, secure couriers for high-value shipments, and packaging is discreet — nothing on the outside indicates the value of what's inside.
